The latest major update of quickfem has landed for 2025 with a new app preview video available here and YouTube
With the update come some important improvements.
Graphics and UI
The UI has had a makeover with a stronger focus on dynamic menus and 2D graphics. New grid, scale and new axis visuals have been added, along with some neat element boundary adjustments to help with results interpretation. Buttons are now customized depending on the current mode or selection.
Overall, the new interface allows for more engineering functionality to be added in future releases.
New Icon!
Yes, a new Icon, hope everyone likes it. Gone for simplicity here over the previous, more complex version.

Modes
View, Edit, Create and Solved modes have always been present, effort is now made to present these better. See the user guide for more details.
Undo
Following user requests an Undo function has been added! When switching back into Edit mode, the “Undo” button will appear to roll back any mistakes or unwanted edits. This is especially useful during refinement and coarsening of the mesh as sometimes these affect the geometry.
User Guide
More content has been added to the user guide to provide more help for first time and repeat users.
Asynchronous Solving
Moved the solve operation to asynchronous solving so that messages will appear during large model solve. Still not fully completed, but it should make the UI a little more informative during solve.
Selection Handles
New selection graphics are now updated to show the touch points for editing. This should help users identify which part of the feature can be dragged or double tapped for menus.

Increase in Model Sizes
Again after many user requests, the model size allowed has been increased from 7,500 elements to 100000!.
The previous limit was in place to protect users from accidentally creating models that would freeze the interface during meshing or solving. But with the ever increasing speed of mobile devices the time is right to increase it.
There is a safety mechanism that artificially sets the limit to 20k – this is under the Model menu. If your device has the grunt, simply change the 20k to a higher number.
Colour Themes
New color themes have been added to the interface and have replaced the previous color customization options.
Some themes are better to use for certain model types or result visuals, hence, being able to quickly switch between them is useful. Currently the “Blueprint” theme is the default.

Website
And this website has also had a makeover, switching to WordPress Gutenberg has been worth the while, can thoroughly recommend it.
Feedback
Hope everyone likes the improvements, feedback is always welcomed, please feel free to get in contact if you have some suggestions.
